I would like to be able to add a button onto the ‘manage’ page for pod items so the user can click on it to send an email, and then have the databse update to indicte the email has been sent. The email would be a confirmation of annual membership renewal

    so:
open pods item –> click button –> system updates database and sends email –> save changes (including any manual changes to other fields).

I can easily do with with a pre-save and post-save helper, but I want to make it a very deliberate choice to send this email as there’s no way it should happen eervy time someone accesses the database.

Is there any easy way to do this, or am I dreaming?

After reading your description it sounds like you DO want a post-save helper.

system updates database and sends email

You could also opt to include a post drop helper that does the same thing.

I know I’ll need the helpers, the thing I don’t know how to do is add in a clickable button on the pods manage screen for a pods item.

I’m doing this in pods ui, by the way, but i am not sure whether this is a pods or a pods ui question.

If You are using Pods Ui please add this element tour $object->ui array

and then create Your custom function

And this action will show up in pods list next to each pod
